Giving Back
Find Your Local Farmer proudly supports several charities dedicated to helping the lives of farmers, agricultural education, wildlife and ending hunger. We invite you to join us in Helping the World!
Farm Radio International
Farm Radio International is a Canadian charity that has been working since 1979 to harness the power of radio to meet the needs of small-scale farmers in developing countries.
We work with more then 900 radio organizations in 41 African countries to fight poverty and food insecurity over the airwaves. With the benefit of the resources and training we provide, our broadcasting partners deliver practical, relevant, and timely information to tens of millions of the world’s most vulnerable farmers.
CFFAE
Canadian Foundation for Food and Agricultural Education
The Foundation administers a variety of programs including initiatives in advancing agricultural knowledge, providing scholarships in agricultural disciplines, and facilitating events that communicate the importance of agriculture to Canadians.
4-H Nova Scotia
In 4‑H, we believe in the power of young people. We help our youth “Learn To Do By Doing” in a safe, inclusive and fun environment, providing opportunities for leadership and life skills development, while promoting agriculture awareness. 4-H is a nation-wide, family-oriented, community-based, youth organization dedicated to the development of young Canadians, encouraging them to become responsible members of society.
Save Our Bees
We don’t think about the tiny honeybee very often. But it’s quickly making big headlines around the world! The honeybee is the cornerstone of the environment and is critical to our food supply around the world. Canadian scientists as well as those from around the world are trying to solve the mystery of what’s causing honey bee losses. Your help is needed to help our pollinators. Corporate and individual donations are very much appreciated … and we need you to help Save Our Bees.
Food Banks Canada
Hunger doesn’t just take place overseas – it also happens in our own backyard. Job loss, disability or underemployment are just a few reasons which may force a person to utilize a food bank. Every month there are 1.1 million visits to food banks across Canada.
Food banks continue to be essential in Canada because of poverty; without a basic income, Canadians are unable to access safe, good-quality and nutritious food. Food banks are pillars within communities and provide other forms of support than just food to people facing an urgent need. Many have programs and services such as skills training, community kitchens and job searching. Food banks rely on donations in order to meet their communities’ needs, so please consider giving today.
